Tacloban City, Philippines



Tacloban is the capital of Leyte, Philippines. It is 360 miles (580 km) southeast from Manila. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 221,174 and is the most populous city. It is also the regional center of the Eastern Visayas, being the main gateway by air to the region. Tacloban was briefly the capital of the Philippines, from 20 October 1944 to 27 February 1945. In an extensive survey conducted by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center and released in July 2010, Tacloban ranks as the fifth most competitive city in the Philippines, and second in the emerging cities category. On 8 November 2013, the city was largely destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan, having previously suffered similar destruction and loss of life in 1897 and 1912. On 17 January 2015, Pope Francis visited Tacloban during his Papal Visit in the Philippines.

Tagaytay, Philippines

Tagaytay is one of the Philippines' most popular tourist destinations because of its outstanding scenery and cooler climate provided by its high altitude. Tagaytay overlooks Taal Lake in Batangas and provides one of the iconic views of the Philippines, the view of Taal Volcano Island in the middle of the lake, viewable from several vantage points in the city. People's Park in the Sky An blending of natural and man-made attractions, poised on the highest point of Tagaytay City and the province of Cavite. It stands on a 4,516 square metres (48,610 sq ft) of solid ground and overlooks four bodies of water – Taal Lake, Balayan Bay, Laguna de Bay and Manila Bay - including nearby mountains. It is located at Dapdap West and Dapdap East, approximately 8 km (5.0 mi) east from the Tagaytay City Circle. Tagaytay Picnic Grove Tagaytay's playground is the popular Picnic Grove, a large park that features huts and tables for picnicking, horseback riding, a restaurant, an eco-trail boardwalk, a zipline and cable cars on the gentle slopes of the Tagaytay Ridge. It is a prime location, providing the finest view of the volcano far below. It is located in Barangay Sungay East.

Grand Mosque of Cotabato City

The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Masjid, also known as the Grand Mosque of Cotabato, is the largest mosque in the Philippines. The mosque is located in Barangay Kalanganan in Cotabato City, and was funded by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam at a reported cost of US$48 million. It is the biggest mosque in the Philippines. The Sultan Of Brunei, funded the construction of this mosque with his own personal money to help the emerging Muslim population in the Southern Philippines.
